The group decides to play baseball. Tony and Meda are the team captains. Now they must decide who bats first.
Tony: We can roll a number cube. If the number is a multiple of three, my team bats first. Otherwise, Meda’s team bats first.
Meda: Yes, let’s roll a number cube, but my team bats first if the number is even and Tony’s team bats first if it’s odd.
1) Do you agree that Tony’s idea is a fair way to pick which team goes first? Explain your reasons.
2) Do you agree with Meda’s idea is a fair way to pick which team goes first? Explain your reasons
I don't think that tony's idea is fair. There's more chance for Meda to win, and if they roll a six, a six is also a multiple of 2 so they would have to work something out. I agree with Meda's Idea as a fair way because there's 3 ways to get even and 2 ways to get odd which is fair.

ReplyDeleteTony has a 2 out of 6 chance while Meda has a 3 out of 6 chance with his idea.
In meda's idea both have a 50%-50% chance to bat first.
*I ment 3 ways to get a odd number which is fair on the first blog of mine.

ReplyDeleteActually Meda has a 4 out of 6 chance to win with Tony's Idea.
Meda game is fair because they each have a 50% chance of winning
ReplyDeleteNo because theres even numbers in the multiples of three
ReplyDeleteWe said yes because if Meda gets a even number then if tony gets an odd number he has
To bat second and Meda gets to bat 1st.
1- it is not equally likely there is 6 numbers the cube and only 2 numbers that are a multiple of 3. 2/6 chance. 33% chance.
ReplyDelete2- this is equally likely there 3 even nimbers on the cube and 3 odd nimbers on the cube. so that is a 3/6 chance for odds. and a 3/6 for evens. that is a 50% chance to get eather or.
they each have 3/6 chance to win
ReplyDeletebut tony game is unfair because they dont have the same probability of winning the game
